 In The Beginning...
Homecoming Cake
First Practice Cake
I started decorating cakes because I wanted a cool homecoming cake for my husband when he returned from deployment.  I bought a cake decorating set, some fondant, and got to work.

I watched some YouTube videos and tried different techniques.  I definitely made a lot of mistakes but I also learned a lot.  For my first time, I didn't think I did too bad.

Easter Cake
Mini Pumpin Cakes
Holiday Cakes
I enjoyed making that cake and waited for reasons to make more cakes and try new things.  For Easter I learned the basket-weave technique and made a fondant chocolate bunny and eggs.  For a Halloween event I baked chocolate cakes in mini bundt pans.  I put two cakes together to make a pumpkin shape and used fondant to really make them come alive.

Birthday Cakes
My friend wanted a special cake for her daughter's upcoming birthday so I came up with a design that suited her.  I made the cake up to the point where the fondant was on and my friend helped me put the splatters of paint on.  My favorite part of this cake was the palette.  I didn't thoroughly mix the food coloring into the fondant for a wood effect.

Reeces Peanut Butter Cake
I always try to come up with new and creative ideas when I am making a cake for one person in particular.  My husband loves Reeces Pieces so I made a cake around that concept.  I started with a chocolate cake and then made a peanut butter frosting.  I incorporated the Reeces Pieces by placing them on top and surrounded the cake with Kit-Kats.  The cake was really tasty but it was so sweet I couldn't eat much of it.

Mickey Mouse Cake - Front
Mickey Mouse Cake - Back
This is a cake I made for my son's first birthday.  I had so many different ideas but we only had a small group so I didn't want to do anything too extravagent.  This worked out great because the Mickey Mouse hat was Deedle's smash cake and the rest of us ate the base cake.

Weber Grill Cake

 Father's Day
Dad's get their days too.  The grill cake was a lot more difficult to make than I expected.  I wanted it to have legs like a Weber grill would but couldn't make it work.  The spherical shape was difficult to work with as well.

Golf Cake
For the golf cake  I used blue gel icing for water, brown sugar for sand, and green tinted coconut for the grass.

Angelfood Cake with Strawberries

I am not a big cake-eater but when I want cake, I want Angelfood with strawberries.  This is a great cake for summer because it is very light.  I use whipped cream instead of frosting.
